Tonight’s meeting, our annual Veteran’s Day observance, was presided over by our President Jordan Wells. We were accompanied by several veterans’s families as Jordan read the role of those Essex veterans who died this past year. “Taps” was played to honor those and all veterans, followed by “Amazing Grace” on the fife.
Our guest speaker this evening was Petty Officer Robert C. Hovens USN, retired. He was part of a secret recon mission in Viet Nam and he discussed mission and history of the squadron and his experience.
We Received a thank you from Mary Ellen Barnes, Town of Essex Social services for our donation of $1,500 to the “Change for Change” program. This program provides gift cards and food baskets for children and their families through out our town for the holidays. Further information regarding this program and be had by reaching Mary Ellen Barnes at the Essex Town Hall (860) 767 4340 ext 211
